Trolling, trolling, and more trolling. I have a small metal row boat with a trolling motor. I spend most of my time on the lake trolling Rapala lures. My favorite lure to use on the lake is a Rapala Shad Rap; which can be seen below. I also use a couple other colors but the Perch color works the best. I think Perch works the best because the lake it full of Perch so it must be a major food source. I have caught Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Small Mouth, and Large Mouth with the jointed Shad Rap, and other deep running crank baits with a rattle. Green, yellow, and orange colors work good.
I have also had good luck with top water action in the early morning and at dusk. The fish seem to really like a Heddon Spit'n Image in Gizzard Shad. Image of the lure is below. Large Mouth Bass love this lure. This lure also has a rattle and says Bill Dance...
Other fishing methods that have work at Laurel Lake are soft plastics, the Small Mouth and Large Mouth Bass really like tube baits, worms, and craw-fish.
