July 2013
I spent the 4th of July holiday at the lake. The lake water is getting warmer and comfortable for swimming. I went fishing the morning of the 4th and caught one Large Mouth with a Big Lewers 3.5 inch Big Pincher crawdad in motor oil orange (see photo below). I fished two more times that weekend, but did not catch any more. I think the fish were not biting because of all the fireworks, boat traffic, and heavy fishing pressure. Check out Big Lewers so you can buy your own hand made soft plastic lures. http://www.biglewers.com/
June 2013
In the first week of the month I had to do some maintenance to my cabin, so I sneaked off to the lake for a few hours one evening from 5-8 PM and caught one Rainbow and four Large Mouth all while trolling or casting a Yellow Perch colored jointed Shad Rap. I didn't get a picture of the Rainbow, because it fell off the hook while getting my camera ready. It wasn't very big/skinny and its back looked curved a little. This was a very good fishing trip.
Mid month my family and I spent a weekend relaxing, and of course that means I was fishing it up. However it had been cold and rainy the week before, so the fishing wasn't very good. The water was colder than it was in May. In the eight or so hours I fished I only managed to catch one Brown, it was a good sized fish and fought like a Bass, but I didn't get a picture of it. I am learning that a Trouts mouth is very soft and its easy to rip the hook out, I need to buy a net.
During the end of the month I went fishing on a Wednesday afternoon from 5-8PM. It had been been warmer and humid so the rain made the fish more active. While trolling with a Rapala plug in Yellow Perch color I hooked up with a monster Large Mouth. This fish was much bigger than my 18 inch long tackle box, I did not measure or weigh the fish, but my guess is she was 24 inches and 8 pounds. This fish is probably the biggest fish I have caught at Laurel Lake. After I caught the big fish I turned the boat around, and trolled back over the same spot. A few seconds later I hooked another Large mouth. The 2nd fish was about 18 inches and about 3-4 pounds. The BUMMER part is I did not bring my camera with my because it was raining so I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES UGH. The spot where I caught these fish is located between the sunken island and a brown house with an elevated walkway between two buildings. This spot produced large fish last year as well. The next morning I went fishing bright and early. I caught a Rainbow, and 2 more bass.

May 2013
I fished once during May. The water warmish. I had some trouble with my trolling motor. I had to buy a new one so I had to paddle the boat, so my ability to fish was reduced. I only caught one Large Mouth; which was caught near the big rock in the Sandy Beach swimming area around 7 AM on a surface lure.
